Course aims

The aim is to develop free creative and technical self-expression and an ability to use it for professional purposes.

Brief description of the course

The basic principles of graphic depiction. Dot, line, surface, rhythm. Form and basic principles of spatial depiction. The modelling effect of light and shadow. Using various implements and techniques of drawing. Depicting various materials, textures and structures. Drawing objects related to the area of specialisation from nature. Analysis of proportion in the composition of a drawing. Sketches of figures. Stylisation of drawing from nature. Painting materials and implements. Painting techniques: body colours and watercolour techniques. Drawing objects related to the area of specialisation from nature. Decorative and naturalistic approaches. Composition of a painting.

Learning outcomes in the course

Upon completing the course the student:
- has obtained cognizance of the hand`s freedom and it`s movement possibilities in depicting activities;
- has skills to use graphical drawing techniques, techniques in watercolour and gouache as body colour;
- has knowledge about the colour harmony;
- has skills to picture the factures and textures of different textile and handicraft materials;
- has knowledge about the human body`s proportions and forms;
- has ability to draw the human body in its correct proportions.
