Course aims

To give students necessary theoretical knowledge and technological skills for teaching felting as a creative and developing type of handicraft. To develop the skill of integrated application of the knowledge about folk art and handicraft technology.

Brief description of the course

Felting in the syllabus of school of general education. Specific features of the didactics, teaching aids and forms of tuition in teaching felting. Traditions of felting throughout history. Materials, implements, planning and preparatory works. Special technologies for making flat and spatial items. Finishing touches.

Learning outcomes in the course

Upon completing the course the student:
- has got overview on felting thematics.
- has the knowledge and skill to choose materials and instruments.
- knows the priciples, terminology and technological possibilities of felting.
- can scematize and plan the work.
- is able to utilise the knowledge creatively.
