Course aims
Support the development of student's musical ear, rhythm and harmony perception and musical memory. Encourage the formation of skills to write music by ear and learn sightsinging.
Brief description of the course
Analysis and writing of short 3–4 part chord progressions. Transposing up to a third. Singing in Do-key. Writing of longer and more complicated (different sentences, rhythms, including chromatic steps) 1-part melodies and simple 2-part exercises.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
Students know D-key and is able to sing related exercises; are able to transpose up to a third simple, mainly diatonic exercises; are able to write 1-part exercises including chromatic steps and more complicated rhythms.
