Course aims
To give survey of basic knowledge and skills in playing chosen wind or percussion instrument, getting acquainted with the history of the instrument and its repertoire and the basics of the playing technique.
Brief description of the course
Introduction to the structure and maintenance of the instrument. General principles of playing scales and ètudes. Analysing the process of practising and assessing the results. The student is taught the right body posture when playing, holding the instrument, breathing, blowing, the work of the tongue, lip position, articulation, articulation marks. Chromatic scale and different ways of playing it. Major keys up to the 3rd key signature.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
Student is capable of playing in chosen instrument Major scales up to the 3rd key signature;
Acquired basic knowledge and skills of the playing technique.
