Course aims

Studying the main concepts of psychophysiological influence of music and the possibilities of using this knowledge in sound design.

Brief description of the course

Physiological and psychological influence of music. The role of musical elements and their characteristics in influence of music. The role of personality, social and environmental factors in influence of music. Analysis of music (different styles) through focused and structured listening, taking into account the main aspects of influence of music. Designing musical backgrounds and sound spaces, based on the knowledge in influence of music.

Learning outcomes in the course

Upon completing the course the student:
- Students know the main concepts of influence of music and have the preconditions for understanding and explaining how the individuals are influenced by music and sounds.
- Students are able to analyse music and sounds from the aspects of influence of music and have basic skills for using this knowledge in desinging musical backgrounds and sound spaces.
