Brief description of the course

The essence of digital sound. The peculiarities of operating systems (Win 9x, NT, BeOS, MacOS). The optimisation of operating systems for sound processing. The main concepts and main principles of digital sound processing. Overview of most widely used file formats. Overview of computer software and hardware used in digital sound processing. MIDI. The synchronisation of video and audio. The basics of digital sound recording. Linear and non-linear editing.
