Course aims

To thoroughly prepare future music teachers and educators. To give an overview of piano repertoire and the practical work of a concertmaster via different ensembles and collectives. To teach the ability to be creative and independent in working as a music teacher - to choose a repertoire that takes into consideration age and ability, and present it in an attractive manner to the pupils.

Brief description of the course

Impressionists and expressionists, works by Debussy and Ravel, New Vienna School. Applying new techniques, acquiring new means of expression. Scales with sharps, reading music. Accompaniments to children´s songs from basic school (forms 1 - 9) songbooks.

Learning outcomes in the course

Upon completing the course the student:
Mastering freely the aforementioned repertoire. Proficiency in styles and forms according to the academic programme. Virtuosity in mastering a pair of scales in maximum pace. Skills to design accompaniments to children`s songs. Skills to accompany the children´s songs with soloists and ensembles.
