Course aims
To develop students’ ability to apply the principles of the classical ballet training system at an advanced level and to analyse the technical, biomechanical and dramaturgical structure of ballet exercises. The course supports students in designing, creating and demonstrating purposeful ballet training combinations while considering technical goals, movement logic and musical phrasing.
Brief description of the course
The course consists of practical training sessions and analytical seminars exploring the structure of the classical ballet training system, the functional purpose of exercises and their dramaturgical organisation. Students analyse the different parts of ballet class (barre, centre, allegro) and their role in developing technique.
During the course students:
analyse the structure and logic of ballet training;
explore the dramaturgical and musical phrasing of ballet exercises;
create their own ballet training combinations for barre and centre work;
test and analyse the biomechanical and technical impact of the created combinations;
develop the ability to explain and demonstrate exercises using different pedagogical strategies, including imagery and metaphor.
The learning process is practice-based and requires participation in at least 85% of contact sessions.
