Course aims
Creating opportunities to gain knowledge of the basic principles of improvisational movement and mastering body articulation in the context of exploratory contemporary dance.
Brief description of the course
Practical subject that gives basic knowledge and practical experience of improvisational movement in the context of exploratory contemporary dance. The subject is based on Roosna & Flak's Responsive Body Practice. We focus on the information we receive through our senses and on the possibilities to use this to find movement responses. Through different tasks we develop structurally aware movement qualities, supported by personal logic and inner readiness.
Process-based learning requires participation in auditory work (practical training): at least 80% attendance to the exam and completion and submission of the study journal.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- uses different methods and approaches of movement improvisation;
- analyses the work process both as a viewer and as a participant;
- participates in a dance improvisation project.
