Course aims
To give a first experience of how to apply theoretical and practical skills in an actual school situation in art and art history classes.
Brief description of the course
Observing and analysing classes. Planning activities, making visual aids, writing class plans. Supervision in the class. Self-analysis report.Independent work and consultations. Feedback from the subject teacher and methodologist. Presentation and analysis of a completed task in the final seminar.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
To teach students. How to use the theory and practice from subject courses in the school situation; to analyse other teachers’ classes, note techniques which work; to set learning objectives, plan activities and select methods which conform to the objectives; to perceive the length of a school class and plan it in time terms; to note pupils age related and individual differences; to assess classes taught, and analyse the activities and reactions of both themselves and of the pupils.
