Course aims
The goal of the course is that the student who has completed the studies understands the basics of advertising, knows modern science-based approaches in this field, knows how to take into account laws and good practices regulating advertising. Also, form the prerequisites for understanding and connecting various aspects of practical advertising activities with broader advertising activities.
Brief description of the course
The course provides an overview of various aspects of advertising activities, including the role and regulation of advertising in society, marketing and propaganda activities, as well as the advertising process and the principles of advertising activities.
The following are covered: the basics of advertising theory; branding and its theoretical basis; theoretical foundations of the concept of visual communication and advertising design, issues of laws and regulations, as well as ethics and good practices in advertising. Students are introduced to professional positions and job opportunities in the marketing and communication sector.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- has a systematic overview of the foundations and basic concepts of advertising theory, the place of advertising in marketing and promotion activities, as well as the advertising process and the principles of advertising activities and advertising creation and design;
- knows good practices applied in the advertising industry and knows how to take into account the legal space;
- is able to use professional terminology;
- is familiar with the job opportunities related to advertising and public relations in the marketing and communication sector.
