Course aims
The aim of the course is to make connections between what students have been taught in previous weeks and key topics, themes, theories, and methods in the study of intercultural communication.
Brief description of the course
The course makes connections between what students have been introduced in prior coursework taught by different professors and key topics, themes, theories, and methods in the study of intercultural communication. The course will build on students’ learning diaries written throughout the program. The course offers theoretical viewpoints and tools to analyze, contextualize and integrate student learning. It will draw from key observations made by students in their diaries with, for example, the theoretical and methodological issues that define the field of intercultural communication. The concluding course serves as a comprehensive synthesis of the program, offering a theoretical and conceptual framing to consolidate and contextualize the knowledge acquired throughout the Eurocampus courses. By mapping the field and tracing its developments, students are encouraged to critically reflect on their intellectual journey. This process not only situates their learning within broader disciplinary landscapes but also empowers them to identify key concepts and their interconnections within diverse perspectives and contexts. At this stage, students are invited to critically examine the insights gained from previous courses. They will assess how foundational theories, methodologies, and practical applications have shaped their understanding and ability to engage with the field. By doing so, they will uncover new tools for deeper comprehension and application, reinforcing their capacity to address complex questions and challenges. Using the metaphor of mapping, students will trace their academic progression: Where was I at the beginning of this program? Where am I now? Through this exercise, they will not only evaluate their growth but also locate specific concepts within the broader field, exploring how these ideas are positioned across different intellectual traditions and practical applications.
