Course aims
To give a systematic and coherent overview of the main theoretical basis of language and intercultural communication. To provide students with systematic specialised vocabulary and concepts.
Brief description of the course
Language and Politics. Language and the Media. Language, Globalization and Education. Language and Gender. Language and Ethnicity. Language and Age. Language, Class and Symbolic Capital.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
The student:
- has a complete theoretical overview of the field of language and intercultural communication;
- is knowledgeable about the main research methods, fields and concepts of language and intercultural communication;
- receives a precise understanding of current ideas and interpretations about language and its role in intercultural communication.
