Course aims
The aim of the subject is to make basic introduction to theories, approaches and practices in the field of digital media and crossmedia. Familiarise students with basic concepts, operating principles, processes and development trends. To acquire knowledge of the specificities of the various media platforms and the cross-media networks.
Brief description of the course
The course explores the key concepts, developments, and operational logics of digital and cross-media in the contemporary media environment. The focus is on platformization, the impact of algorithms, the attention economy, and participatory and community-based media. Students analyse communication and narrative strategies across different platforms and learn to design audience-oriented digital solutions and media projects. The course also emphasizes problem-solving, innovation, teamwork, and project development from concept creation to communication planning and presentation. In addition, the course supports the development of professional communication skills, reflective practice, and learning and career competencies required in the field of digital media.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- has a primary overview of the nature of digital media and crossmedia;
- is familiar with the theoretical approaches and concepts of the fields;
- understands the impact of technology development on the audience, industry and media consumption;
- understands the role of digital and cross media in modern society;
- knows different platforms (digital and crossmedia);
- is able to analyze the development trends and perspectives of the field, economic, socio-cultural and auditory background and influence.
