Course aims

Aim of the course is to introduce new media usage possibilities in the work of journalist; to give overview of main forms of new media and their usage; prepare for independent usage of new media devices.

Brief description of the course

Topics: introduction to new media; new and old media; new media in journalism in Estonia; changes in journalism caused by new media; new media genres and their usage in practical journalism; journalistic sources in new media; multimedia.

Learning outcomes in the course

Upon completing the course the student:
- knows main types of digital media;
- is able to find information from social media for journalistic purposes.
