Course aims
The objective of the course is to support the development of student's preparedness in understanding and applying product design principles in the planning of practical work in vocational training.
Brief description of the course
Product development situation in Estonian industry. Product development as a system connecting marketing, product design and production. Product development stages. Innovation, creativity, environmental sustainability, problem solving, finding innovative solutions in product development. Evaluation and selection of results in product development. Product price and pricing policy. Product development project. Quality in product development. Product development sample project.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
The Stdent:
- Analyses product development opportunities based on the curriculum;
- Follows the principles of the product development process when designing practical work during vocational training;
- Analyses the creativity, innovativeness, environmental sustainability and cost-effectiveness of the proposed production project;
- Uses mathematical models, formulas, schemes, and technological resources when developing the production project.
