Course aims

The objective of the subject is to support the establishment of competences based on national and school curricula, and create prerequisites for the participation in the development of the school curriculum as a teacher.

Brief description of the course

Acquainting themselves with curricula of different levels, documents determining the development of the curriculum, strategies of drawing up the curriculum, and work at the curriculum as a process.

Learning outcomes in the course

Upon completing the course the student:
- is able to describe the education system, levels of education of the Republic of Estonia and the relevant curricula;
- is familiar with the principles and fundamentals of drawing up national curricula and the development of curricula in Estonia;
- is familiar with the general part of the national curriculum of the basic school and the annexes to it;
- is able to analyse the school curriculum and to compare it with the experience of other countries;
- is able to analyse their work scheme based on the school curriculum.
