Course aims
Create possibilities to acquire the skills needed for public presentation using voice as a working tool and directing children’s speech development.
Brief description of the course
Types of speech and speaking situations (formal, free, etc.). Comparison of oral and written speech. Components of speech delivery techniques. Practising speech delivery techniques: breathing, diction, intonation. Practising expressiveness: pauses, pace, tamber. Preparation of an oral presentation. Structure of presentation. Quidance of conversation. Presentation of text. Bringing forth values of fiction: prose literature, poetry, monologue, dialogue. Dramatization, role-play on teaching and educating purposes.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- is familiar with basic concepts concerning the subject matter of the speech;
- is able to analyse the speech situation;
- is able to compile exercise books for delivering a speech and are able to plan a short drama as group work;
- is able to prepare a speech and to deliver it;
- is able to compile a drama project in first forms.
