Course aims
Forming an esteeming approach towards learners with special needs. Forming constructive functioning in customising learning environments. Leaning on modern teaching theories.
Brief description of the course
Classification of learning disorders, medical aspects, identification. Early identification possibilities of reading, writing and calculation difficulties in order to create a more favourable developmental environment and prevent further development of difficulties. Early childhood and school programmes for the development of learning skills. Teaching strategies and support systems in the work with students with learning difficulties. Analysis of factors influencing a favourable learning environment, creation of a learning environment that supports the development of specific skills. Interactive processes as factors that influence learning difficulties. Fear-free learning as a precondition in overcoming difficulties.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- has knowledge about the pedagogical and medical aspects of learning disabilities;
- can Identify different theories and approaches within specific learning disabilities;
- can define different intervention methods and strategies;
- is able to reason, critically analyse their view points, and synthesise different sources;
- is aware of the principles of cooperation framework.
