Course aims
Major. To provide knowledge concerning the rights and responsibilities of people with special needs in society. Students will become aware of different social groups in society and of people who might be excluded or abandoned. Students will learn how to recognise and manage with special needs in different situations and contexts.
Brief description of the course
Estonian moves towards the European legal space. Safeguarding educational, social and legal rights of citizens at every level. The essence of special needs. Recognition of people with special needs on an equal basis with other citizens. Estonian and international documents on educational and social management. Socially vulnerable groups. Support and services for people with special needs in Estonia.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- has developed motivation to work for people with special needs;
- can interpret the multidimensionality of the society;
- has assess realistic objectives in the work with people with special needs;
- is ready to integrate knowledge and skills in their relations with the country, their family and individuals;
- has they have knowledge about management techniques, public relations, listening skills.
