Course aims
Course objectives: To create opportunities to practice theoretical knowledge in work with children up to three years; to support the development of connections between the students’ experience in conducting learning activities and the acquired knowledge; to enable the development of students’ skills in supporting the child’s development, communicating in a child care institution as a teacher and as an organizer of learning and educational activities.
Brief description of the course
Student:
- draws up an intership plan;
- observes one of the learning activities carried out by the teacher and prepares an analysis of the observation;
- prepares one week plan in cooperation with the supervisor teacher;
- plans and conducts two learning activities independently in cooperation with e supervisor teacher;
- analyses the carried out teaching activities;
- conducts an assessment of the child’s development and prepares a summary of the assessment;
- analyses children’s play and summarizes the analysis;
- cooperates with the group’s staff and involves the assistance of a teacher in the activities;
- participates in the management of children’s free activities in the group; perform the tasks arising from the agenda; directs children’s play; organizes games and children’s activities when children are outdoors;
- prepares self-analysis.
Throughout the internship, the student fills in the internship portfolio, which reflects his/her activities during the internship.
Students also submit a video of their activities in the folder.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- is able to analyse the learning activities carried out by the teacher;
- is able to create a playful and safe growth environment based on the child of the group in learning activities;
- is able to plan, carry out and analyse learning activities; is able to evaluate and analyse the development of children in the group for up to 3 years old; can evaluate and reflect on his/her work;
- is able to evaluate and analyse the development of children in the group for up to 3 years old; can evaluate and reflect on his/her work.
