Course aims
Creating the conditions for acquiring knowledge about an organization's data management and information processes and about the internal and external environment, information needs, information flows, information audits and information policies.
Brief description of the course
Concept, mission, vision, goals and culture of an organization. Impact of the digital transformation on organizations. Internal and external environment of an organization and methods of analysis. Digital transformation and the rising role of data management. Data management strategy and functions; other information processes (information, knowledge and communication management; management of information resources, information systems and information technology). Data acquisition and management. Concepts and objectives of communication and information management, information needs of an organization, information policy and strategy, information audit concepts, objectives and methods. Purpose, methods and tools of knowledge management
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- understands the nature and importance of the digital transformation in the organization;
- knows and distinguishes data and information-related work processes applied in the organization: data management, management of information, knowledge, communication, information resources and information technology;
- is able to analyze the information activities of an organization and make recommendations for the development of information policy based on information needs and supporting the achievement of organizational goals.
