Course aims
The students will be familiar with various forms of contemporary Japanese culture (literature, art, film, anime, manga, games) with a changing focus chosen by lecturer. The student will be able to use different methods of cultural theory to analyse contemporary culture.
Brief description of the course
The course gives an overview of the main forms of contemporary culture (art, film, anime, manga games) with a particular focus chosen by a lecturer. In addition to knowledge of contemporary Japanese culture the students will be able to use methods of cultural theory to analyse them.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- knows the various genres and themes of contemporary culture and their historical background;
- is able to analyse contemporary culture using the methods of cultural theory.
