Course aims
Enable the students to discuss and analyse different topics found in the speeches and texts of today’s terrorists and their predecessors connecting the ideas to the principles of Islam.
Brief description of the course
Different texts by today’s terrorists and and their predecessors will be discussed and analysed. The main stress will be put on the recuring topics which brings the discussion to the basic principles of Islam, modern history and world views. The course is meant also for students who have not learnt Arabic thus excluding the linguistic aspect from the discussion.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- has systematicially arranged knowledge in recurring topics in terrorist discoure;
- has ability to find and read closely the recurring topics in different texts;
- has capability to find the sources for the mentioned topics in classical Islamic texts.
