Course aims
Aim of the course is to enable students to read and analyze the most important Vedic, Epic, Classical and Technical literature texts in the Estonian, Finnish, English, Russian and German translations.
Brief description of the course
In Seminar will be considered and analyzed most important literary works, with an emphasis in Estonian language translations: Rig- and Atharvaveda hymns, upanishads, Bhagavad Gita, and the laws of Manu Arthashastra, Rājataranginī, Kālidāsa poetry, Kamasutra, Vetāla 25 stories and Shukasaptati, dramas, and jewels of Buddhist literature, Bodhicāryāvatara.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- has knowledge of Indian literature;
- has ability to analyze literature in India;
- has ability to distinguish the Indian Sanskrit literature of different genres and styles.
