Course aims

Support students in achieveing the basic knowledge of Estonian culture and ability to interact in Estonian cultural enviroment.

Brief description of the course

The most important problems of Estonian culture are analyzed both in historical perspective as well as in relation to contemporary developments. The main stages in the development of Estonian culture, important persons. The relations of Estonian folklore, customs and beliefs with contemporaray Estonian society. Modern Estonian culture, media and culture, cultural establishments.

Learning outcomes in the course

Upon completing the course the student:
- has the capability to cope in Estonian cultural environment and to understand basic cultural processes.
