Course aims
To equip students with the knowledge of Estonian literature, concentrating on the most significant texts, which have shaped the Estonian culture and identity. Texts from various periods are under observation.
To improve the skills to work independently with texts from various periods. To give the possibility to practise the analysis of different texts.

Brief description of the course
The principal questions, momentous events and important authors of Estonian literature are under observation, concentrating on the most significant texts, which have shaped the Estonian culture and identity.
The following aspects are under observation: context, reception, role and interpretations (e.g. in fiction and film) of the text.

Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- is equipped with the knowledge of main trends in Estonian literature;
