Course aims
To introduce Finnish-Swedish literature, its development, history and present situation; to give an overview of Finnish Swedes, Finnish-Swedish culture and Swedish folklore in Finland.
Brief description of the course
Multifaceted approach to the Finnish-Swedish literature, focusing on the main trends of prosa and poetry (e.g. Dagdrivare-generation, Finnish-Swedish modernism) and writers from the 19th century until today.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- has knowledge on Finnish-Swedish literature, its development, history and present situation;
- has skills of analyzing different texts of Finnish-Swedish literature, relating Finnish-Swedish literature to historical context and Finnish literature;
- can present the results of the analysis clearly and logically.
