Course aims
To give overall picture of Finnish history, culture and literature
Brief description of the course
Student gets overall picture of most important events of Finnish history, the main focus is in the development of autonomous and independent Finland; student gets familiar with most important authors of 19th century and the beginning of 20th century.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
Student has basic knowledge of Finnish history, culture, society and literature and he/she is able to look at the Finnish culture and literature in the context of world culture and literature, knows the relationship of history and literature in the various fields of culture, is able to associate the wider expertise with wider cultural and social context, is able to use the acquired knowledge in a targeted independent research.
