Course aims
To form a general comprehension of learning the Finnish language as a second or foreign language, of the basic theories and tendencies and of important research questions, methods and results. To form the skill of reasoning and analyzing the process of learning the Finnish language relying upon prior experience; to build ground for a successful acquiring of foreign language didactics.
Brief description of the course
A review of the factors responsible for the results of learning, the strategies of a learner, the basic problems of the evaluation of the language fluency, the questions related to interlinguistic influences, the implementation of research results in teaching praxis. As an individual work team works and essays, where the most important theoretical views on learning the second language would be compared to own learning or teaching experience.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
The knowledge of most important concepts of learning the Finnish language as a second or foreign language; the skill of associating theoretical views with language learning experience.
