Course aims

Knowledge of the position of word and lexicon in the system of Estonian lexicology.

Brief description of the course

Definition of word and lexicon. The dynamics of the lexicon. Enriching of lexicon. Functions of language and lexicon the style value of a word. Lexical realtions. Lexicography. Word formation.

Learning outcomes in the course

Upon completing the course the student:
- has an overview of origin and distribution of Estonian vocabulary.
