Course aims
The subject belongs to the curriculum of bachelors studies in Estonian philology, autumn semester. To provide an introduction to the fields of activities and broad areas of study, and the main issues in the area of specialisation, to introduce research centres of Estonian philology, scientists and teachers.
Brief description of the course
Introduction to areas of study from the teachers of the area of specialisation. An overview of linguistics, literary studies and folkloristics, research centres, relevant publications, databases. Becoming acquainted with the Institute of Estonian Language, Tartu University, Estonian Literary Museum and libraries. Revision and overview of the linguistic knowledge and orthography necessary for listening to more demanding courses on linguistics.
