Course aims

The course aims to give a knowledge in all constituent skills in Chinese language level A2 in a practical way.

Brief description of the course

During the course students develop prerequisites for the acquisition of oral and written language skills in Chinese at A2 level. Course provides a thorough foundation in basic Mandarin Chinese by helping students to grasp basic skills of Mandarin Chinese: listening, speaking, reading and writing, as well as the cultural context in which the language is spoken.

Learning outcomes in the course

Upon completing the course the student:
- identifies the main information and overall meaning in simple Chinese conversations on familiar topics;
- participates in simple everyday conversations by directly exchanging information on familiar topics, including work, hobbies, and holidays;
- reads and interprets simple Chinese signs, notices, and public information and identifies relevant information in them;
- accurately reads and writes 700 learned Chinese characters and uses them in learned vocabulary and simple texts;
- produces simple personal letters and messages and completes forms in Chinese, providing simple personal details and other familiar information.
