Course aims
To acquire knowledge about creativity as a personality trait and creativity in the context of norm and deviation. To give the students skills and knowledge they need in order to be able to support the expression of creativity in children through upbringing and education in both home and school environment.
Brief description of the course
The essence and types of giftedness; the relationship of creativity with various types of giftedness. An overview of the methods of identifying giftedness. Gifted problematic children in mainstream school. The role of empowerment in promoting talents. Individual tuition as the main way of developing talents. The definition of norm and deviation or the borderline between giftedness and a problem. Creativity and intelligence. Home and educational rearing environment supporting the expression of childs creativity. Adults responsibility for supporting talent: the role of active listening, promoting emotional intelligence, supporting social giftedness. Applying the principles of Reggio Emilio at general education school. Creativity in higher education. Social factors of family, psychological climate related to the expression of childs giftedness.
