Course aims
To produce up to five short films and familiarize German students with the context of film production in Estonia.
Brief description of the course
The course Directing Fiction is a German language course designed for the students of our partner university Macromedia. In a practice based approach the students have to produce five short films and learn the craft of filmmaking in an Estonian environment. The work load includes script development, directing actors, dramaturgical approaches to storytelling, visual storytelling, pre-and post-production and the organization and planning of the shooting on the set.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- have developped their practical skills in either directing, producing, cinematography, sound design or post-production;
- have acquired the skill to produce films in a foreign environment;
- have enhanced their practical knowledge about collaboration in a film crew;
- have widened their capacities in audio-visual storytelling and film-production.
