Course aims
The purpose of this course is to provide students the knowledge of theory, concepts and crucial principles of the independent filmmaking from finding the right idea up to the international marketing.
Brief description of the course
The course is designed to teach students the essentials of the independent filmmaking. It focuses on the creation of a film targeting an international market.
The course is built around the whole filmmaking process and it introduces the creative and business aspects of the film production throw the main stages of it. Students acquire the theoretical knowledge and understanding of the basic principles and cruisal questions of this process. The practical assignments will give an experience how to develop an idea and story together with some fundamental knowledge of drawing up strategies for production.

Independent work
different written assignments during the course. Every student is also the member of at least one team production.
Learning outcomes in the course
Students have acquired the theory and concepts of the independent filmmaking from finding an idea up to marketing and have the knowledge how to create a film project targeting an international market
Assessment methods
The home assignments, assessment of the short film, the test.
Grading criterea:
„A“ - outstanding and exceptionally thorough achievement of the learning outcomes, characterized by the knowledge and capacity to use the acquired on exceptionally high level. An outstanding level of acquired theoretical knowledge and creative assignments.
„B“ - achievement of learning outcomes on a very good level, characterized by omitting knowledge without any principal mistakes. Very good level of acquired theoretical knowledge and creative assignments.
„C“ - achievement of learning outcomes on a good level, capacity to use knowledge purposefully. Minor flaws and inconsistencies appear in more specific and detailed knowledge. Good level of acquired theoretical knowledge and creative assignments.
„D“ - level of achieving the learning outcomes is sufficient. A degree of shortage in knowledge is noted. Satisfactory level of acquired theoretical knowledge and creative assignments.
„E“ - meeting the learning outcomes on a minimum level, capacity to use knowledge in limited ways. Notable shortage in knowledge and in confidence is noted.
Weak level of acquired theoretical knowledge and creative assignments.
„F“ - student has acquired knowledge on a level lower than required.
