Course aims

The purpose is to provide the knowledge and understanding of crucial concepts and principles of directing documentaries.
The experience of directing develops students’ creative abilities and deeper their comprehension of the nature and language of documentaries.

Brief description of the course

The course introduces the directing process of documentaries and provides knowledge about basic elements and procedures of it. Students will learn directing skills and will direct their own short films.

Learning outcomes in the course

Upon completing the course the student:
- has acquired the knowledge of crucial theoretical concepts of directing and understand the essential principles for creating documentaries;
- has developed also students’ creative abilities and broadened their comprehension of non-fiction film language.
