Course aims
To give an overview about the role of movements, technological innovations and genres in film history.
Brief description of the course
The course consists of lectures, in which the student gets an overview of film history from the perspective of artistic movements, technological innovations and genres. In the lectures the students will watch clips from films and analyze them in the context of film history. During the course the students will write a research essay and make a presentation (based on this essay) to the class.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- understands the general developments in film history and the role that different movements, technological innovations and genres played in it.
