Course aims
The goal of the course is to give to the students a general understanding of the main principles of human rights adjudication in international and domestic courts and in other international organizations. The course will focus in more detail upon the questions of human rights protection at the European Court of Human Rights and the Court of Justice of the EU. Likewise the influence of the civil society and human rights protection organizations upon the protection of human rights in the contemporary society will be examined.
Brief description of the course
The course will cover the following areas: theoretical and practical questions related to the protection of human rights; procedure and case-law of the European Court of Human Rights; procedure and case-law of the Court of Justice of the EU; the activity of human rights protection organizations.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- knows the theoretical and practical problems related to the protection of human rights;
- knows the main judgments and procedure in international and domestic courts;
- has the capability to design protection plan in individual cases;
- understands the role of the civil society in the protection of human rights.
