Course aims
To acquire in-depth knowledge about the main periods, processes and concepts in Estonian history since the 18th century based on the current key problems in historical research in the regional context.
Brief description of the course
The course deals with the key processes and concepts in Estonian history since the 18th century together with the historiography of regional histories, giving an overview of the main periods and historiography in the regional context and developing students’ thematic discussion skills through seminars. The classroom part of the course consists in lectures that map general themes and in seminars that dwell on more specific issues and cases.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- has in-depth knowledge about the main periods, processes and concepts in Estonian history in the relevant time period;
- is able to analyse thematic literature, materials and sources both orally and written format;
- is able to analyse the key problems of Estonian history and historiography in regional context in the relevant time period.
